Fazenda Sertão has produced coffee for over one hundred years. When Nazareth and José Isidro Pereira married in 1949 the couple became the farms second generation of coffee producers. The farm is still run by the Pereira family with Nazareth and José’s son Francisco Isidro Pereira guiding the farm through a period of rapid change in recent years.

34 families live and work on the farm, receiving free housing, transportation, medicine and education. The farm produces four varieties of coffee, some food crops and Girolando cattle. Coffee is grown only where it is best suited; on top of hills where it is safe from frost and on the sides of hills where ample sun ensures uniform ripening. Quality coffee varieties are processed
in both the natural and pulped natural methods as well as methods less common to Brasil including honey, washed and anaerobic fermentations.

This lot of coffee is processed in the pulped natural method and is a Yellow Bourbon varietal selection. Fazenda Sertão is a coffee with a wide appeal; rich and sweet flavors of milk chocolate and malted barley are complimented by a delicate peanut butter cookie sweetness. We especially appreciate the long sweet finish. From Minas Gerais, Brasil´s Mantiqueira mountains enjoy Fazenda Sertão.
