COMICOVEL is a coffee producing cooperative representing 210 members from indigenous communities across the Opalaca mountain ranges surrounding Jesús de Otoro, Honduras. Coffee is produced organically and the cooperative has implemented its own agroforestry production practices with the goals of producing high quality organic coffee and protecting forests and freshwater sources.

An important part of COMICOVEL’s work is in bringing these smallholder farmer’s co ee to market. Connecting these farmers to responsible and committed buyers creates mutual benefits. Producers are able to invest in their families and farms with the significant premiums they earn and roasters are able to share unique regional flavor profiles with their customers year after year. When smallholder farmers sell their co ee to a cooperative of which they are a member, they both empower their community and take home more money from their harvest.

This lot is a Lempira variety, processed in the washed method. Coffee cherries are freshly picked by hand before being depulped, washed and dried on each small farm. These small batches of finished washed coffee are then blended together based on common flavor attributes. After years of roasting this coffee we continue to love it’s candy bar flavors -chocolate, nougat and almond- and it’s sugary sweet finish.
