PORVENIR - Mexico Specialty Coffee (ORGANIC)
TASTING NOTES: Honey, Date, Caramel, Round, Sweet and Warm
This delicious coffee comes from smallholder farmers in the communities of El Porvenir and Llano Grande, Chiapas in the highlands of the Sierra Madre mountains near Mexico’s southern border with Guatemala. This coffee is washed and dried on each producer’s farm before being delivered to GRAPOS collection centers in the towns of either El Porvenir or Llano Grande.
GRAPOS (Grupo de Agricultores Positivos or Positive Farmers Group) is a coffee production group composed of 2,700 member farmers. The group supports its smallholder farmer members in obtaining Organic and Fair Trade certifications which recognize the producers’ positive practices in sustainability and equity and also add value to the coffee they produce. GRAPOS blends microlots to build larger lots of coffee which exhibit nuanced regional characteristics.
This lot of coffee is composed of Bourbon, Typica and Marsellesa varieties of coffee. Processing- from washing to drying- is done on each farm before coffee is delivered to either the El Porvenir or Llano Grande collection center. This coffee has a sweet and gentle nature with comforting flavors of chocolate and caramel as well as a delicate plum note which adds depth and sweetness. Please join us in appreciating the fruit of these smallholder farmers' work and enjoy this delicious coffee from El Porvenir, Mexico.
