LA AMISTAD - Nicaragua Specialty Coffee

The relationship between Panther Coffee’s Joel Pollock and coffee producer Francisco Javier Valle Garcia began over eighteen years ago. Joel remembers sitting with Javier in a rainy parking lot of their favorite Portland, OR hangout and listening as Javier gave detailed instructions to his brother who was managing their coffee farm in Jinotega.

At the time, neither Joel nor Javier could have imagined the promise that their working relationship held. Finca la Amistad has returned to our menu with each years’ harvest. Looking back, we are thrilled and grateful to continue our work together.

Javier’s family has grown coffee for generations and their dedication, skill and knowledge are appreciable in the cup. Quality Caturra and Catuaí varieties, high altitude, volcanic soil, ample fresh water and most importantly, the meticulous work of the producer, yield a delicious cup of coffee. This year’s harvest of La Amistad is soft, supple and approachable with a delicate acidity and sweet dulce de leche finish. From our friend Javier we are happy to share with you the aptly named La Amistad.
